Utopia

“Time to hit the sack young-ling”

but no, i do not want to, all i want to do is just chill.

Hence hit the sack concept, that is how your body chills

But, what of my beautiful mind, and that soul thing that you keep talking about
Well, am neither your parent, nor our teacher, but it is pertinent to know that the sack re-energizes all things
They went about with the fiddling and arranging things for the next day. School in itself was a big chore , however, the additional chore of sleep was just as much replenishing for one as it was repugnant for the other.

The children, as much as they were considered children, remained within the confines of the room. Relaxed and asleep they always had impressive acts to conduct everyday. Reading being one of them. That apart the geography of the school always let one to find a new instance and new creature everyday.

Morning, came with its nice new spirit. A fresh morning, early morning dew spread itself across the leagues and leagues of the fresh ground across the school. A secluded place far away from the bustles of the city life. Similarly, the campus was just as far away from those manicured residential schools as similar from the bustling schools.
The spirit of the school, was just as much as nature. The flow of life just as intended, the flow of water and the rising and ebbing of the waves. Sunrise and sunset all happened as it naturally was. The school too had the same activity for its pupils. Lessons learnt only from the natural activity of life.

This was a deliberate activity of leaning away from the technology of life hat had taken over humanity. A couple of centuries ago, mankind and most of its nearest relatives( not to forget the actual mice and the lab rats) went overboard with their technological dependencies. The life of technology caused a lot of changes to their lives. Mobile phones and pedometers, satellites and extra terrestrials. All this and more defined lifestyles and to most extent lives. Applications always had the same context, take out all the data across all potential data subjects and fill in the huge meta big-data learning engines for all learning activities (advertisement and customisation to say the least)
Why, they asked in that time. Why not answered the majority. The technology told then what to do, when to eat, why to do things and of course tracked it back for them in accordance to algorithms set up in the coolant of a physical space of a former forest. Why, they asked again, why not not they answered again to get back to life an spend quality time they said. With who and why they asked. Why not was still the answer versus who with....

The technology defined lifestyles, the world caved in, not with maturity or over zealous entrepreneurs giving people things that they did not even know wanted. Well, eventually nature realized that it did not need them and gave humanity,, its favourite child, one last chance to redeem itself.

The children, playing in the field, gathered in the shade of a huge tree next to the pond. This afforestation activity was all better than that tin roof in summer, causing more heat boils than heat prevention in the past centuries.
Time had slowed down for evolution and so had the need for life. Life now, without technology ( well 99% of it at least) was left to itself.Morning play, nap in the afternoon and a lot o face to face lovely attention from the teacher left them with a lot of soulful laughs and pleasant memories.

Technology took its worst turn, in that century.. the INTERNET lines were cut across the ocean lines, the satellites thrown out of orbit through a gravitational pulse and a lot more natural satellites, much Utopian in nature formed by itself, a couple of precariously well placed asteroids and a few comets helped along the way.. naturally.. GOD was blamed, but geophysicists had an unbelievably believable explanation too... So did a film-maker.

All the technology left as is, life began to down pace itself. New innovations made information dissemination via satellite ( what was left of them) a limited one. Time remained at the disposal of things while population began to mature so much that over the centuries, noble souls left themselves naturally to refrain from repopulating the earth. Things started rolling back. Economies had to make more changes than required and yet everyone understood and cared the less for it. Why they asked, Why not, they said, the information accessible to common public today has to wait a long time to put in context. They keep changing the news so long that public opinion just settled for an Victorian lifestyle without the need for an constant social validation.

The kids were in the only vestibule left in the vicinity of the school with strange objects. The activities resided in the same room were what were painstakingly recovered of their own lost civilization. The moderation of life and the ease of information access was surprisingly balanced. SO much so, life was believed to be more utopian than utopia could have imagined. Scary thoughts passed by the inhabitants that they just wanted it to remain as is and yet they knew, much like the children did, evolution would catch up and they will go through the cycle all over again.. growing beyond, and then let nature take its way.

The children, came back post sunset to their quarters .
Time to hit the sack young ling
But.. (yawns), al right.. time for bed it is...

  1. Interesting and complicatedly amusing! In the cycle of technology and no-technology, man forgets his folly that what is part of nature is majorly 'naturalized'. Think about it. Beautiful script though... Keep writing, and inspire dumb mortals like me!
